PÖFF: The Brazen

Creepy psycho drama about the consequences of a white lies, blasphemy and banishment. Armenian-Latvian horror maker Aik Karpetian (“The Man in the Orange Jacket”, “Samuel’s Travels”) slowly fancily builds intense frightening thrills from sneaky scares in broken relationships. Ideal forest setting is in favour of rodents, worms, bugs, and other freaky parasites. Secluded mansion furtherly pushes distressed family to mistrust, jealousy, disrespect, disloyalty and chaos. Practical educator Rihards prefers to live by strict rules and rational monotony, but super-mother dancer Helena fancies to dream, meditate and breath. Their misguided older son Eriks rebels in his own mentality. Soon enough we start to suspect that everyone in this family wears a mask or two to hide their desires, infidelities and fears. Vengeful hallucinations. miscalculated blackmail and self-punishment invites home fierce extremes as six-years-old daughter Maija disappears on her own will. Edvinas Pukšta
