"In the outskirts of Palermo, a gang of criminals crush people’s bodies with brutal force. This is the “working style” of the improvised criminal organisation which after crushing the body parts of consenting victims simulates fake accidents to collect large insurance indemnities of which only a small part goes to the harmed ones. Protagonist Vincenzo recruits them from the same street on which Luisa, a beautiful 25-years-old girl lives… “The Bone Breakers” is a heated action mafia film by helmer Vincenzo Pirrotta, reminding us of the Italian classics of the genre, which are a part of the heritage of their cinema history. The director comments: “The dark story of the bone breakers has stayed with me since the morning it entered my thoughts from a news report on the radio and it became like a sickness to be vanquished.” Which is why I just had to curate this movie, as it’s one of the best films of this hard-boiled genre ever made.
